The scheme, for the Parkhaven Trust in association with Arena Housing, is an extra care facility designed specifically for people with dementia. The residents have the benefit of living in their own home with 24 hour care available

The building comprises 24 single storey self-contained apartments with a two storey day-care centre. The day care facilities include an activity room, reminiscence room, high dependency room and a hair and beauty salon.

Other facilities include a communal assisted bathroom, lounge, training room and staff office.

The site is located close to a scheduled ancient monument and prior to commencement Rowlinson liaised closely with the local authority and archaeological experts to assess whether the site contained protected historical remains or earthworks. A substantial late Victorian building had to be demolished to make way for the development and a photographic survey was completed for the use of future historians.

Construction was in timber frame with a brick and render facade.

The grounds were landscaped sympathetically with the surrounding parkland, and an area established for allotments for the use of the local public.

Approximately 1 mile of public access footpaths and substantial alterations to the existing road layout complemented the new facilities..
